 Our Beginning

“What started with our Raspberry Pi device has evolved into a complete platform — with an Android app under development that will provide full wireless connectivity to your Uniden SDS scanner.” 

As development continued, the project began to attract attention from other scanner enthusiasts who were interested in a more modern way to interact with their radios. Feedback from the community helped shape how Touch Scanner evolved, influencing improvements to the interface, usability, and overall design.  What started as a small experimental project gradually grew into a tool that many in the scanning community saw real potential in. The input and support from other enthusiasts helped guide the direction of the project and encouraged further development.

Building on the original Raspberry Pi foundation, the next step was to expand how Touch Scanner could interact with the scanner. This led to the development of wireless connectivity, opening the door to more flexible ways to control and monitor the radio.

Wireless capability allows the scanner to be placed wherever it performs best while still being easily controlled from another device.

As the platform continued to evolve, the natural next step was mobile integration. Touch Scanner now includes the development of an Android application that enables full wireless connectivity and control of your Uniden scanner.  This expansion allows users to interact with their scanner in entirely new ways, providing a more modern interface and greater flexibility in how the radio is monitored and controlled.

Touch Scanner continues to evolve as new ideas and capabilities are explored. The goal remains the same as when the project first started: to enhance the Uniden SDS scanning experience while maintaining the power and reliability of the original radios. Future development will continue to focus on improving usability, expanding connectivity, and incorporating feedback from the scanning community.
